' Miss Hastings Excellent London Adventure' by Cheryl Bolen is book Four in the "Brazen Brides" series. This is the story of Miss Emma Hastings and Adam Birmingham, and this can easily be a standalone book.
Emma is an orphan who has been living with her elderly Aunt when she gets a letter to come stay with her Uncle and learn to take over his business. When she heads to London he fails to meet her and when she tries to make her way to his house she meets Adam. Adam has been drinking due to being upset that his mistress who he thought he was in love with up and left him to marry. Adam takes Emma home with him after they find her Uncle's house empty. Later the next day they find that he has passed away and that he has left nothing really to Emma his next of Kin. Adam feels protective of Emma and has offered his help further to look into the matter. But an even bigger step is what he does next to make sure she has someone.
