Reckoning by Elizabeth Knox is book Five in the Skulls Renegade MC Series. This is the story of Katya and Slasher / Junior. I have read the previous books and feel you can make this a standalone book if you choose to do so. But most of the books have a underlining theme and recurring characters so it may help you to enjoy it more if you do.
Katya mother sold off her children into slave trafficking. Katya tried to protect her younger sister by taking most of the physical part but when she was sold out she did her best to send her sister to their brother. Neither really knew the other nor did they have a brother sister bond but they were blood family and that meant something to Katya. Katya worked her was up from slave to a mob wife but then her husband traded her in for a new and better deal in marriage. But he had set in motion for her to take over the business...so he was never done with her.
Slasher we met in previous books and that is where he got his face slashed. It changed him and he became harden and withdrawn. But when he meets Katya he sees something in her that connects with him. Katya sees past his scars and she sees him just as he sees the real women where her family sees her as a monster.
This was a dark romance which I understand but I not sure I ever really felt Katya and Junior connections....so I struggled with my rating but overall I enjoyed the book and didn't bring my feelings into the rating.
