Mistress Spy by Pamela Mingle is the story of Madeleine 'Maddy' Vernon and Nicholas Ryder.
Maddy was out to avenge her brother's death which lead her to be a part of a rebellion attempt. Robert who with his father works for the Queen to gather needed information and protection. Maddy is brought to Robert's attention who he makes a deal with Maddy to become a spy/informant into a household that they think to be traders to the Crown. With no real choose, Maddy has to go forward with working with Robert. But they both have a hard time keeping this to just 'business' when their attraction and feelings become to much.
