Mermaid Inn by Jenny Holiday is the first book in the Matchmaker Bay Series. This is the story of Sawyer Collins and Eve Abbott. Sawyer and Eve were young friends / sweethearts but Sawyer ended up breaking her heart and Eve left Moonflower Bay. That was about 10 years ago and now she is back in the small town because her aunt Lucille left Eve her Mermaid Inn. We learn that Sawyer is now the Chief of Police and both are surprised that there are still such strong feeling between them. Eve isn't planning to jump back into anything with Sawyer so he has to work to get her back.
