PRETTY WHEN SHE CRIES by A. Zavarelli is book 4 in the Black Mountain Academy Series. This is the story of Landon and Kailani.  I do feel this can be a standalone book.  Landon is the golden young man at Black Mountain Academy.  Landon is a child actor who has learned early on that people will use you and deceive you...even your own family.  So he has learned to not trust and never show weakness of love.  But when he beautiful neighbor Kailani it seem so hard to stay focused on those goals. But then he feels she has betrayed him and shown her true colors.  Kailani is a quiet young women wanting to be a dancer who didn't come from money but her mother just married into it.  When she started help her neighbor Landon with tutoring her feelings for him just grew.  But then she was hurt when Landon ended up being a part of the traumatic embarrassment pulled on her.  Feeling home to Hawaii and away from the schools, she works to focus on her revenge.  When she does feel secure in her plan of revenge she heads back but it looks like Landon isn't done hurting her yet.  But what both don't seem to realize just yet that there is someone who is leading them to the misunderstanding.  Loved this young anguished romance. I would recommend this author's writing and of course this book!
