One hot, sweaty, fateful night determined the trajectories of their futures. Leaving Lucas forever stuck in Wayward and Birdie skipping town in the middle of the night, vowing never to return, unless handcuffed, which was a distinct possibility.
Years later, Birdie finds herself forced to return to the town that undeservedly reviled her and facing the man who had every right to do so.

The Endowment Effect by Lēigh Tudor. This is the First book in The Wayward Series. This starts the story of Lucas Santos and Birdie Wellborn. Lucas was always the ultimate well liked boy who seemed to have everything golden and grew up to be the beloved town Mayor of Wayward, Georgia. Birdie also grew up in that small town but didn't want any part of Lucas other than to rile him up with her words. But before Birdie left that town she and Lucas had one upsetting incident. But this book starts to bring them back together. This book does end with a cliffhanger setting us up for the next installment in this series.
