SAVAGE BEGINNINGS by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman is book One in The Moretti Crime Family Series. This starts the story of s Julian Moretti and Elena Romero. Elena was literally taken from her bed and given to Julian who took her as payment for her father's debits. Elena is a sheltered women who now finds herself being caged by a older man who isn't a nice person. Julian is the ultimate bad boy anti-hero with his dangerous, possessive side. Julian is far from a weak man but there something about Elena that draws him to her although its a hard struggle we see played out. This book does end setting us up for the next installment in their story. I am a big fan of these author's writing and just like past books, this book has kept me up reading to see what happens next. Can't wait for the next installment.

THE JOCK by JL Beck & C. Hallman is book 6 in the North Woods University Series. This is the story of Cage Wilder and Blair Jensen. I have read the previous book which did add to my enjoyment of this one but I do think you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Blair isn't the outgoing girl but instead is the book smart girl that doesn't have much social skills. So when she agrees to go to a small party which turns out to be a frat party she is definitely out of her limits. Then she meets Cage who she ends up turning him down in a way that hurts his ego not to mention making his team mates joke about him. So save face he makes a bet that he can get close to her and take her. Cage is learning though she is a special women who makes him feel so much more. Enjoyed their story and hope to read more from these authors.

THE PROMISE by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman is book 5 in the North Woods University Series. I haven't yet read the previous books but I do want to after reading this one. Although, I felt this was a standalone book, I just enjoyed this one so much. This is the story of Jude and Lex. Jude lives with her parents who are abusive to her. Jude knows the one thing that will have them disown her is to loose what she has and they value...her virginity. So she jumps on a bus and ends up in a bar where she is saved by Lex. Lex is taken with Jude and knows that she must be in trouble and offers her a place to stay which leads them to do more of course. Jude slips out going back to her parents but their abuse becomes so much worse. This make Jude leave again to be on her own. Lex is a ex military man who works at a local gym but his mind is on Jude. Lex works to start again knowing that she will not be told or forced around again. But then she ends up seeing something she shouldn't have along with seeing Lex again. Lex was someone she wasn't suppose to see again and now he has become her shadow. This was a page turning read for me. I loved these authors writing and hope to read more from them soon.
