'Baron' by Joanna Shupe is book two in the series "The Knickerbocker Club". This is the story of William Sloane and Ava Jones. William is a wealthy Railroad Baron who has come to drive 'Madame Zolikoff' off. William friend is going to her to contact the sprit world. William wants this con artist gone. But when he goes to try to drive her away she doesn't fall for it. Ava has been trying to earn money to get her siblings out from a bad situation. Once she gets enough money she can save them and get a small farm for them to live. So she isn't going anywhere and won't be bought by William. These two find their attraction is hard to resist...but they are from different worlds. William is trying to get into the political field and Ava just wants her family to live in the country.
