'When a Highlander Loses His Heart' by Julie Johnstone is book Four in the "Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts" series. I haven't yet read all the book in this series so for me this was a standalone book. This is the story of Graham and Isobel. Isobel has been in a convent since she was a baby and her father didn't plan on getting her out until she turns 18 years of age. Isobel's grandmother had left her a castle which has made her a target for clans wanting to claim all that Isobel has. If Isobel was to marry before her 18 Birthday she would have lost everything but now she has been taken out of the convent by her Step-Mother who she has just met. Isobel feels that her Step-Mother is evil and is up to no good which is quickly shown when she tries to marry her off to Jamie MacLeod. Isobel knows that MacLeod is a enemy of her father. But before any Wedding goes forward Graham comes busting through and takes her. But he is kidnapping her to take her to the King so that he may choose who her husband will be.
Isobel is a strong, Innocent, brave and all around great leading lady. Graham is emotionally wounded and slow to accept that he deserves love and happiness. Overall I really enjoyed this story and hope to read more by Ms. Johnstone!
