The Mad Lieutenant by K Webster & Nicole Blanchard is book 3 in the Lost Planet Series. This is the story of Draven and Molly. I do feel you would enjoy them more if you read them in order but if you choose not to you should be okay.
Draven had the virus that killed most of the Mort population and he is still suffering the side effects and the scars of it. This makes him want to be alone which makes him cold toward Molly and most others. Molly has some back issues herself but she does try to break through his walls but they are pretty hard.
Enjoyed their story and this series.
