Renee Richard is the First book in the Forged Hearts Series.  This is the story of Emma and Eduardo. Emma is in an abusive relationship that she finally confesses to her sister and parents.  They attempt to get her out of it but it ends up with her family being killed.  Emma does get away with the help of another family member and this puts her to seeing Eduardo again.  Emma and Eduardo had a connection when they were young.  Enjoyed this book.
