ENVY by Rachel Van Dyken is book 9.5 Eagle Elite; and 83 1001 Dark Nights. This is the story of Renee Cassani and Vic Colezan. I thought this to be a standalone book.
Renee is born in the mafia but doesn't want to be a part of it but really has no choice. Vic is a bodyguard for the family but he also wants Renee. But Renee has been designated to marry someone else although not know at first. Their love wasn't supposed to be but that didn't stop it from happening.
Quick exciting story...loved it!

Eulogy by Rachel Van Dyken is book Nine in the "Eagle Elite" series.   This is the story of Chase Abandonato and Luciana Smith I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book if you choose to do so.
Chase is on a mission of revenge and he is in it blood, sweat and tears.   Chase was once married to Mil De Lange but we learn she betrayed him but she ended up dead. Now Chase is on a mission to kill the De Lange family. It has drove him to not be the person he was before and his fellow friends are trying to do all they can to bring him to his senses in before he goes to far.
Luciana is a up and coming lawyer who is was one in a orphanage is shy and somewhat clumsy. Luciana is also innocent and has been trying to help take care of her elderly parents. So when her boss Nikolai tells her that he is offering her a new job that pays allot more with great benefits she takes it. Although Luciana knows there must be a catch she knows it is to good to turn down.
Luciana has to relocate and is put to work with Chase. Chase gives her a hard time threatening to kill her until he learns he doesn't have a choice...he still works for the 'family'.   So they tell him he has to do his revenge on his own time but while on their time he has to work with Luciana.
Luciana and Chase could not be any more different. He is all about killing and she can't even watch a Die hard movie without crying it seems.
Really exciting story.. could not put it down!!
